About

I've been in flooring for 50 years. Now I find out why floors fail.

I started in flooring 50 years ago and I've worked nearly every side of it. I owned and ran a flooring showroom and store for years. I installed floors. I repaired them. I've held a contractor's license for 40 years. In 2020 I became an independent inspector.

I'd seen inspections that didn't go deep enough, and people left with a report that didn't answer their question. I wanted to do it properly. Having been the store, the installer and the repair guy helps. I know what each of them is going to say, and why.

How I work

My job is to determine what caused the problem and document it fairly. Every inspection starts the same way: let's look at the facts. The report tells you, here's what I found, and here's the evidence.

I don't take a job where someone wants a particular conclusion before I've seen the floor. And I won't change a finding because someone doesn't like it. If new information turns up, I'll review it, and if I got something wrong, I'll correct it.
